When exploring Rudy Arocha’s photography you truly see his subject’s essence. Specializing in portrait photography, Rudy has an ability to put people at ease through simple interaction, capturing an honest portrayal of who they really are. Stories are shared, and Rudy’s love of meeting new people and listening to their experiences, makes him unique as a photographer, as these exchanges become embedded within his creative art form.
Graduating from the Art Institute of Austin in 2011, Rudy’s ability to connect with people combined with an eye for meticulous lighting and skilled editing, has landed him a variety of published work featured in periodicals The Austin American-Statesman, The Austin Chronicle and magazines Austin Monthly, Austin Woman, ATX Man and San Antonio. Commercial Clients include CapMetro and Independence Brewery.
“The biggest reward is getting to do something I really love. When I’m doing photography, I feel like I could do it all day every day,” Rudy says with a smile, his upbeat and motivated personality shining through.
Recently experimenting with integrating a cinematic feel to his photos, Rudy enjoys mixing portrait photography with a documentary-photojournalism style, to achieve an intriguing story told within an image. Looking to expand into commercials, Rudy hopes to incorporate movement, video, and photo into cohesive creative pieces.
